Our High School Squad Through the Years

Graduation
One of life’s greatest blessings is a true friendship.  I truly treasure my high school squad. I totally agree that they are the type of friends whom you may not see every day but when you do, it will always feel like yesterday.  I will be sharing to you a (not so long) snippet  of our friendship.

Fact: we don’t have a date for our anniversary or the so-called Friendversary, but I consider that we are already celebrating 7 years together.  Let’s just say that every school year is our anniversary.
With our seniors
2nd year high school, summer 2013: we had a GSP regional camp in Davao and it was really worth remembering. 5 days away from home and to only have each other to depend on really embarked our friendship. I remember our sabaw moments together, sleeping together in a small tent, cooking food, doing chores, going on adventures and even, evacuating our stuff and ourselves to save us from a heavy rain that poured at 10 pm.
That was very memorable.  Indeed, a camp wouldn’t be complete without a taste of rain.  The camp was really the start of everything, since we knew ourselves better; for we were all away from our comfort zones.  Claire was our senorita. Irryl was our like our mother.  Faye and Ainna were our ate’s. Rodora was the clown. Charmae was everyone’s buddy. And then, me, I don’t know, haha!

Fast forward, as 3rd year high school began, we officially formed our squad.  The class would really notice us as a group, because we sat together with our girl scout uniforms on.  We also have Whoopy, she’s not a girl scout but she is the princess of the group.  A year passed by...4th year high school, we continued making memories together.
The day we said farewell to Ainna
Short story, I used to cry a lot during the last weeks of my senior year because it was hard for me to accept that we were already going to separate. Those were really the saddest days of my life. Waking up to the mornings of our graduation practices...crying! Haha.
First sembreak in college
Now, in college, we catch up every semestral break since it is also the time when Ainna comes home to CDO. That’s why, I always look forward to every sem break.  We also gather during someone's birthday.
We hiked from Balulang to Ultrawinds. Yes, we hiked!
First sleepover ever! I remember Reyna's mom interviewed Ainna and me just for her to get the permission.
My 18th Birthday (9/10)
Question? Are we always complete whenever we catch up? No. Again, we now have different schedules. We always let "understanding" rise above all.

I am grateful for this squad because we always make sure that we catch up. That’s the key: communication. Also, we had new recruits! Reyna and Louily.

The thing is: you don’t really have to see each other every day.  Along the way of growing up, you’ll have your own businesses but always make sure you make time for catching up.  In your business, you will and will always need a breather and to be with your friends is one of the healthiest breathers!

Yet, this time, it’s different. As I am now in my senior year in college, I am starting to feel not excited about the sem break! To think that I only have 2 more sembreak’s left. So, after that, what happens next? Will we see each other? How often? We will surely pursue a bigger journey ahead.

Well, that's something new to look forward.  7 years and counting, and I know our friendship will last forever, but only the Lord knows how is it gonna be in the future.  To my high school squad, to whatever you are facing right now, know that the Lord is with you. See you soonest.
10/10
I am always excited to see what the Lord has in store for each one of us.

Lastly, one thing I realized while writing this is that time really flies very fast.  It seems like yesterday when we were still in first year college.  Thus, always make every moment count, my dear, whoever you are reading this.

radiating sunshine,
Hannah Borja
